Intuitive Living: Connecting Mindfulness, Yoga and Intuitive Eating

Intuitive Living: Connecting Mindfulness, Yoga and Intuitive Eating

This will be a 2 1/2 hour seminar about the intersection of yoga and intuitive eating.

Participants will first be guided through an hour-long Yin class that will integrate language to promote body positivity and will incorporate mindfulness practices, helping you connect with your body in a compassionate way. Yin yoga is a practice that focuses on stimulating the connective tissue of the body by holding reclined or seated postures for 3-5 minutes. It is a practice that provides stillness and offers an opportunity to find contentment in each moment you are in. Essential oils will be used within the Yin practice to promote further balance and harmony. This practice is suitable for all levels.

Following yoga, there will be an hour and a half class on the practice of Intuitive Eating. Intuitive Eating is a way to approach eating in a way that is respectful to each individual’s needs, and relies on internal cues to guide one’s food decisions. It involves the rejection of external food rules and restriction, and helps people learn to trust their bodies; an ability that is taken away from many in today’s health-and weight-focused culture. They will be guided through the 10-principles of Intuitive Eating, along with reflective activities, and discussion.

Through this workshop, we hope to help participants foster self-compassion and self-awareness. Through the integration of yoga with intuitive eating, participants will learn mindfulness in their body and in eating, helping them to nourish themselves both physically and mentally.

Hip Relief Workshop

Come explore the therapeutic benefits of yoga with me on February 12th at Breathing Room: Yoga & Movement Studio. This 2-hour workshop will use the practices of gentle Vinyasa yoga, Yin yoga, and restorative yoga to work into the muscles and connective tissue of the hip joint, while inviting a state of peace into body, mind, and spirit. The hip joint has been one that I’ve devoted a lot of time learning more about, as I have personally dealt with many years of discomfort and pain in this particular area of the body. We often don’t think beyond the tension and possible discomfort we feel in this joint, but when we learn more about it, it’s easy to see that it forms a major intersection in our bodies by connecting the upper body to the lower body. It also is the root in which our spine grows, creating the foundation of spinal alignment. When you are experiencing tightness in the hips, you are setting yourself up for misalignment from your neck all the way down to your feet! So, take the time to discover how yoga can help and begin the process of finding relief from your hip joint discomfort and pain.
