This will be a 2 1/2 hour seminar about the intersection of yoga and intuitive eating.
Participants will first be guided through an hour-long Yin class that will integrate language to promote body positivity and will incorporate mindfulness practices, helping you connect with your body in a compassionate way. Yin yoga is a practice that focuses on stimulating the connective tissue of the body by holding reclined or seated postures for 3-5 minutes. It is a practice that provides stillness and offers an opportunity to find contentment in each moment you are in. Essential oils will be used within the Yin practice to promote further balance and harmony. This practice is suitable for all levels.
Following yoga, there will be an hour and a half class on the practice of Intuitive Eating. Intuitive Eating is a way to approach eating in a way that is respectful to each individual’s needs, and relies on internal cues to guide one’s food decisions. It involves the rejection of external food rules and restriction, and helps people learn to trust their bodies; an ability that is taken away from many in today’s health-and weight-focused culture. They will be guided through the 10-principles of Intuitive Eating, along with reflective activities, and discussion.
Through this workshop, we hope to help participants foster self-compassion and self-awareness. Through the integration of yoga with intuitive eating, participants will learn mindfulness in their body and in eating, helping them to nourish themselves both physically and mentally.
