With Christmas just a few days away, the hustle and bustle of the holiday is in full swing, leaving little, maybe even no time, for rest and relaxation. Between the list making while checking it twice, gift buying, wrapping, decorating, card sending, feast prepping, and let’s not forget, a partridge in a pear tree, on top of your day to day responsibilities, you may be finding you’ve become the last thing on your list. This disconnection from yourself and your needs will only leave you feeling frazzled and depleted long before the ball drops as you ring in the New Year. So why not take some steps to care for yourself this holiday?
I don’t know about you, but there is nothing I love more than snuggling up with a mug of hot chocolate on a cold winter day. Whether it’s following countless runs down the sledding hill, shoveling at the tail end of a nor’easter, or while curling up to watch your favorite holiday movie, hot chocolate is always the best way to warm you up and fill your heart with happiness. If I’m being completely honest, I’m pretty sure my participation in outdoor winter activities is only as a means to get the hot chocolate that will surely follow.
Happy Monday, my lovely friends! This week’s Monday Mantra is, Seek out moments of true connection.
With Christmas only a week away, it’s easy to get caught up in all that remains on your to-do list to prepare for the upcoming holiday, and to be fretting over all the gifts that remain on your list. But in doing so, you miss out on opportunities for true connection- whether with your family and friends or even a complete stranger. These moments of connection are truthfully what will be remembered and are the things you will carry in your heart for the rest of your life.
So if your holiday décor looks nothing like what you are seeing in your Instagram feed, or your gifts look like a 2-year-old wrapped them (Some gifts are awkwardly shaped making them absolutely impossible to wrap!), or you’ll be spending part of your Christmas Eve still out shopping for gifts, I’m here to tell you, it’s okay. Do your best to worry less about those things, and instead, seek out those moments of connection that will fill your heart long after the holiday has passed.
Christmas is a mere 10 days away (Where has December gone?), and you better believe I’m doing ALL the holiday things. So it will come as no surprise that this month’s yoga and workout playlist includes some of my favorite festive tunes to bring some Christmas joy to your next yoga practice or workout.
