Summer Bucket List

There are only 50 days left of summer (yep, I counted!), and while Target may have their shelves filled with ‘Back to School’ items, you better believe I’m soaking up every last bit of this sunshine-filled season! I’m sharing the top 10 things I hope to do before the crisp fall air starts to make it’s way to New England and how I plan to accomplish them over these next 50 days.

1. Attend an outdoor concert

This weekend, T and I are heading north to the Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor to see OneRepublic, and I couldn’t be more excited! We haven’t made it to any of the concerts at Thompson’s Point this year, but T has never been to the Waterfront Pavilion so I’m excited to experience it with him.

2. Have a picnic in the park

We haven’t been to the Eastern Promenade other than for T’s softball games all summer long! I love the Eastern Prom and it’s the perfect place for a picnic. Often, we’ll spend a million dollars at the Whole Food’s hot bar, pick up a few craft brews, and then enjoy them both while overlooking Casco Bay.

3. Go Camping

I’ve been dying to go camping this summer, and it looks like we may just fit in a bit of it while we are visiting my home state of Alaska, thanks to good friends and their abundance of camping gear. Hopefully there will be no bear encounters!

4. Spend the day at the beach

This is just another one of those things we have yet to do this summer (geez, we’ve been slacking!). There are so many beautiful beaches in Maine and I’m hoping to spend a day at either Higgins Beach, Pine Point, or Ferry Beach before the summer is over.

5. Go blueberry picking

T has actually been the one mentioning how he’d like to go blueberry picking this summer and I am all for that! Any places that you recommend in the southern Maine area?

6. Catch a fish

As I mentioned, we’ll be making a trip to Alaska and you better believe I plan to do some fishing while I’m there. I’m hoping to be sending some wild-caught Alaskan salmon back with us.

7. Have a family cookout

In a little over a week, we’re heading to Long Lake near Bridgton for a cookout with T’s family. Family time, plus delicious food! Sign me up!

8. Go lake swimming

This goes hand in hand with the last bucket list item. Not only will we be having a cookout, but there will be tons of lake swimming had by all. It really is the perfect way to spend a summer day in Maine!

9. Read 1 fiction book

I’ve only read one fiction book all summer long (Summerland by Elin Hilderbrand, in case you were curious), so I need to step up my reading game before school starts! Any recommendations for a good summertime read?

10. Go kayaking

Since getting a kayak this spring, we’ve been out kayaking almost every weekend and it’s been absolutely wonderful! The pup loves it, T loves it, I love it! It’s a win all around. I hope to spend even more time cruising around some of our favorite water spots before the summer ends.

What fun things are on your to-do list before the summer ends?

Feel free to join in on the fun and post to Instagram or Twitter using #summerbucketlist. I will be sharing a handful of photos along the way, and at the end of the season I will share a post with all of my favorite summer photos.

Check out last year's Summer Bucket List! I was a bit more ambitious last year!
