Happy Monday! I hope that you had a lovely weekend and that the start of your week is a great one! Today’s Monday Mantra is Be still.
Last week was filled with time spent with friends and family in Aroostook County, getting together with friends over the weekend, and celebrating the union of two friends. It was a week filled with love and happiness, but all the running around has left me feeling a bit depleted as I enter into this week. So, I am giving myself the permission to be still, to rest as needed.
There is something to be said about allowing yourself to be still. Often in a yoga class, I find that my students struggle the most, not with the active practice, but in final relaxation (savasana). Being still and allowing yourself to rest can stir up feelings of guilt because you are not actively checking things off of your to-do list. However, being still is a powerful tool to help you connect with yourself, to be receptive to your thoughts, rather than running away from them. It also allows for the opportunity to provide yourself some self-care. It is not a practice to avoid, but one in which you should embrace and maybe even add to your daily to-do list.
Can you give yourself the opportunity to be still today?
